Fir trees, the madness of repetition
The fir tree collection at the Omsk City Art Museum (GMIO) was where I found the courage to show my works publicly for the first time. Repeating the familiar image of a fir tree over and over in different styles, I attempted to capture the many facets of perception of such a simple object, but even after 49 different variations, I was no closer to completion, as it's impossible to show all the layers of reality. Eventually, I began to deny the very image of a fir tree, which led me to the final work in this "not fir trees" series.
